ADPH's directory lists 35 hospice providers with offices in the seven counties (Jefferson 13, Shelby 7, St. Clair 5, Walker 7, Blount 1, Chilton 2); families may choose any licensed hospice that serves their area, including in assisted living and nursing homes.

Can hospice serve a resident of Alabama assisted living?
Yes, for a current resident with a terminal illness other than dementia, if the facility can meet the needs; a new resident who already needs hospice cannot be admitted to an ALF.
