How do we source facts on this site?

Every rule, limit, program and figure on this site is traced to a primary source: the Alabama Administrative Code, ADPH, Alabama Medicaid, ADSS, Alabama DHR, CMS, the Census Bureau, VA or CareScout's published survey.

When something is not published, such as a Birmingham-only cost median or any memory care median, we say it is not published instead of estimating. Cost and rule pages carry a “Last verified” month.

How do we build facility listings?

Facility listings come only from bulk official data: ADPH's directory export for license details, ADPH's posted statements of deficiencies for assisted living inspection history, and CMS Care Compare for nursing homes.

We do not use facility websites, aggregator listings or reviews, and we do not create ratings. CMS star ratings appear only as CMS publishes them, labelled as CMS's. Deficiency tag counts come from the newest posted ADPH report we could read, with a link to the original.

How do we handle corrections?

Email advisors@birminghamsenioradvisor.com with the page and the correction; we check it against the primary source and update the page, usually within a few business days, and the change appears in the sitemap's last-modified date.

Facilities can ask us to review a listing, but we will only change data that the state or CMS has changed.

How do we keep pages useful rather than repetitive?

Each page answers its own questions with facts specific to that place, license or topic, and longer shared explanations live on one canonical guide that other pages link to.

How often is the data refreshed?

The ADPH roster, the posted survey lists and the CMS nursing home file are re-downloaded on a regular schedule with the scripts that build this site, and every listing shows the date of the data behind it.

Program figures such as Alabama Medicaid's income limits change each year; pages that cite them carry a “Last verified” month, and we update them when the agency publishes new numbers.

What do we do when sources disagree?

We follow the most authoritative and most recent primary source, which for licensing is ADPH's own directory and for nursing home quality is CMS, and we say on the page when a figure is unavailable or uncertain.

Aggregator sites are never used as a tie-breaker.

Who writes and reviews our guides?

Guides are written by the Birmingham Senior Advisor care team and checked against the cited primary sources before publication; each guide carries its publication date, and rule and cost pages carry the month they were last verified.

We do not accept payment to publish, change or rank content.
